Jewels from Yemen – Ring in silver with double red coral

Yemeni Ring in silver and red coral, typical materials of their traditional craft.
Primarily worn by women of the Bedouin tribes – nomads who live in the territories of the Arabian Peninsula – who wear more models on all fingers, these jewels are decorated with typical filigree designs, granulations and small geometric elements (often rhomboidal) applied to the setting.
The coral, native to the Red Sea or imported from neighboring countries such as Saudi, is considered valuable and protective: here it is used on a double bezel, one of the most frequent examples of this type of ornaments.
