Oriental Symbols | Vajra or Dorje Pendant
Lovely little pendant shaped like a Vajra or Dorje in sterling silver.
The Vajra is considered the most important symbol of the Tibetan Buddhism.
In ceremonies it represents the masculine principle when held in the right hand, whereas the bell, considered as the feminine principle, is held in the left hand.
The word ‘Vajra’ means ‘tough’ and reflects the strength of the mind after Buddha’s teaching about the purity of mind. In India it is believed to be the scepter of Indra, god of clouds, rain and fertility of the earth.
