Necklace in silver and glass paste, typical Tuareg handicraft.

These TASGHALT – necklaces in the local language – are used from centuries as talismans of good luck and wealth, worn to protect from the many hardships of the desert. The pendant shape leads to the four cardinal points, and the engraved and embossed decorations are related to place of origin to the goldsmith who creates them; of old or characteristic objects, the signature is always present on the back, as shown by the initials on this jewel.
These necklaces were also donated as a dowry to the bride by the family of origin.
